“My recent visit to Cafe Nga Tim on October 1st was a mix of nostalgia and slight disappointment. I was surprised to find the once-bustling restaurant relatively quiet on a public holiday. The meal was a series of okay, but not outstanding, dishes. The highlight was supposed to be the curry crab, but its rich flavour was overshadowed by the staggering price—over HKD $500 for a crab just over 18 taels. The other dishes failed to pick up the slack. The baked mussels with cheese were decent, and the beef short ribs (牛仔骨) were passable. However, the shredded chicken (手撕雞) was unpleasantly salty. Even the classic Macanese bacalhau fried rice (馬介休炒飯), a dish I usually love, was merely acceptable; the fluffy rice was there, but the distinctive flavour of the salted cod was underwhelming. Overall, the meal was just okay. It had been a while since my last visit, and it seems the magic has faded. The combination of questionable value and generally average execution made for a less satisfying experience than I remember.”

“the service is nice and kind. seating is simple and comfy enough. moderate pricing. a little overpriced for the fish $168. the taste of the pineapple fried rice, spicy chicken, fish and baked veggie are fine. also ordered a small bottle of white wine. we came on a weekend. not many visitors. peaceful and cozy. recommended for a dinner if u fancy a decent evening stroll away from crowds. $605 for 2 (service charged incl.)”

“Had a s solid experience at this cafe. The food range on the menu was good and was pleasantly surprised to see coffee on the menu. The food quality seemed decent. It was fresh and tasted all natural. The taste was okay, didn’t blow anyone away but still hit the spot. It was a bit pricey to what I was used to for Macau. Service was good enough. The mix of outdoor and indoor tables is great. And it’s in a nice little spot across from the church. Would recommend, but don’t set hopes as high as the prices.”

“This is a great choice on Coloane because of the diversity of the menu and the beautiful setting next to the Igreja de San Francisco Xavier. The execution was slightly uneven but I enjoyed the opportunity to try bamboo worms for the first time.”

“A beautiful spot right by the water, with relaxed vibes and genuinely friendly service. The stir-fry dishes are fresh and full of flavor, and the traditional Chinese plates really hit the mark. It’s the kind of place that’s easy to love, whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or lingering longer.”
