“Came here for a Christmas lunch, that is something that we never expect to be an amazing tasting menu day of 1826.
Cafe deco ambience, just like in korea, menu is amazingly good spread that meets everyone needs.
Their drip coffee is crafted with precision and that amazed me.
We had really a feast...
Cod fish risotto, the creamy tasty flavour is refreshing while you enjoy the cod fish fried in just right doness. Is a 5 🌟 dish
dish.
Nasi lemak is good chilli , fried chicken wings is delicious, simple food but not simple taste.
Tiger prawn spaghetti top with fish roe, gives flavour as well as crunch to the dish
Truffle fries, good generous cheese topping , Truffle oil can be more.
Their mocha is rich in flavour and blended well with right milk.
Since is Christmas we ordered a steak, was good portion for one and we all share the good texture beef that preserved the flavour of meet.
Fish and chips , really generous using cod fish, wonder which restaurant now does that.
Finally when we are full, we decided to take an adventure to tried their signature beef fried rice with 酸菜. This is really a great culinary invention .
The chef is creative and place is totally amazingly great. Not in orchard road but a top grade resturant that priced very very reasonably.
A place that I will visit every week.”

“We are regular diners here as the food is generally good and well presented. Standout dishes include the Fishy Bizniz, BBF Fish & Chips, Nyonya Beef Rendang, Tea Garden Soba, Crispy Cheesy Brussels, Caprese Salad and Matcha Tiramisu. Dishes to avoid are the Unagi Donburi, Rib Eye Steak and ATTO 3 Dry Laksa.
Food aside, the advanced reservation system may need an overhaul. We regularly book a table of 4 pax, specifically at Level 2, non-pet friendly, almost always one month in advance.
In recent weeks, we came across multiple occasions whereby our reservation has been overriden by some large pax group that likely have booked later than us. Fair enough as the Level 2, non-pet friendly area is the only place to accommodate large pax gatherings of 8 or more.
What we aren't pleased with is that we did not receive any advance email/text message that their restaurant is overbooked and they have to relocate us to Level 1, non-pet friendly (smaller tables) or Level 2, pet-friendly (dimly lit with furkids permitted).
BYD 1826 has a protocol to call the guest's phone number to confirm booking on the day of reservation. Strange enough, I only receive such calls on days where the restaurant isn't overbooked. On days that Level 2, non-pet friendly is overbooked, they're silent and no call was recieved. We then entered the restaurant and the onsite staffs looked stunned (as if our reservation vanished in their system) and scrambled to find us an alternative seating area.
All of these could be prevented if the restaurant have sent an email/text messaged me as soon as the large pax group at Level 2, non-pet friendly have made their reservation. They should be well versed by now that such large pax reservations are very likely to displace smaller pax reservations in the same room.
When I am notified on booking changes at least 1 day in advance, I am given ample time to decide: to either accept the alternative seating area or cancel the reservation.
When the booking system is in sync and in order, your staffs can run the restaurant smoothly. Unfortunately, I see them logistically strained as they face high influx of guests and frequent overbooking situations.
BYD 1826 can do better and I have full faith they will.”

“I find this restaurant a lovely place to have a nice dinner with the pets. There is a lawn (Zhongshan Park) beside the restaurant, which is perfect for the 4-legged friends to stretch their legs. With the children playground at the side, the place is full of laughter, joy and playful noise. We were seated outside on the tall table and the service was excellence. The staff were prompt and accede to the many requests we had such as water bowl, eating bowl for the dogs etc.
Food came fast, in fact too fast. Ordered a fried squid and it came immediately after we ordered. I assumed the food is pre-cooked hence it arrived that fast. The squid is hard, the batter felt "old". I give it a low 2.
Mains were the steak and the black cod miso risotto. These 2 were perfect. I especially liked the risotto which blended in nicely with the well-done black cod. This salvaged my food rating to 4.
Remember to make reservations if you do not want to be turned away. Saw a couple turning Karen and were politely asked to wait.”

“Food presentation was absolutely stunning — every dish looked vibrant and appetizing.
I had the cod fish with risotto, and while the risotto was nicely cooked with a creamy texture, the cod fish unfortunately had a slight fishy taste. The tiger prawn aglio olio took the longest to arrive, and its flavour was rather plain. Similarly, the beef stroganoff was on the bland side and could use a richer sauce.
On the brighter side, the mentaiko tots were a standout — generous portion and packed with flavour. The chicken wings were a little disappointing as they were dry and overcooked. The fish and chips were a safe, classic choice done well.
Drinks were beautifully presented. The matcha cold cream was particularly interesting — smooth, well-balanced, and not overly sweet.
Visited during weekday lunch, which was fairly calm and comfortable. I heard that dinner service tends to get busy, so reservations are recommended.”

“Came here courtesy of BYD vouchers by our friend, who just bought a new family car!
💳 there’s a 30% discount for members atop the vouchers given, rendering the price point affordable for what they are serving!
We definitely over ordered, with some highlights as follows:
⭐ brussel sprouts are very well cooked, good amount of seasoning and lightly fried i believe, one of our favourite dishes
⭐ cod fish was fresh and good sized too, for just ~$18 too!
❌ there’s only 1 miss, which was the fried squid, the batter wasn’t the best flavoured one, and it feels a little too fried.
The remaining dishes were pretty average, though the price point definitely helps especially for these food which usually costs double in other restaurants.
Definitely one that we will return for even without the vouchers!”
